Christie's International Real Estate offers for sale Villa de Clario Filangieri in Candida, an eighteenth-century country estate of 2,400 m². It is located in Livardi,an area of the province of Naples that extends east towards the slopes of Vesuvius. Around the courtyard are distributed the ancient spaces of agricultural work, the stables, the great hall of the harvest, the storerooms of the carriages and tools, the warehouse of the orchard, the large cellar with icebox, the kitchens and laundries, all according to a scheme traced by the ancient Roman domus.
The main floor is characterised by the elegant black and white geometries of the ancient majolica floor, the wallpapers and the colourful tapestries with plant motifs. The windows overlook the greenery with several terraces arranged to the course of the sun during the different hours of the day and to the view of the crater of the Volcano, 45 km away. The garden is approximately 20,000 m² approximately, with box hedges and centuries-old trees, and arranges the magnificent citrus grove in perspective which ends with the discovery of a beautiful Arcadian temple. Born in the mid-eighteenth century on older buildings by Orazio Mastrilli, Marquis of Livardi, the name and furnishings of the villa date back to the wedding of his nephew Vincenza with Francesco Saverio De Clario, a patrician from Salerno. The exceptional conservation of the estate in the last century is due to the passion and taste of the Filangieri di Candida Gonzaga, owners since 1920.
